AFC Mobile Academy

Announcement on 2020-21 tryouts:

Unfortunately, given the state of matters, recent data in the Mobile area, and the on-going uncertainty related to COVID-19, we have determined that we will not be holding in-person tryouts or evaluations this summer. Instead, we will be hosting open virtual evaluations and open houses to offer potential new parents and players the chance to be evaluated and learn more about our club. Details will be released next week.

To be clear, in normal times, we’d absolutely hold open tryouts, and we hope to do so in future seasons. Evaluation is crucial to maintaining a productive and competitive developmental environment. These, however, are not normal times. While many of you may feel safe and secure participating in a tryout over the next few weeks, some reasonably may not. We will not ask our parents to choose between the welfare of their family and their child’s opportunities on the field.

This fall, when training begins, all players will be evaluated based on our developmental rubric to determine where they are in their development and what the optimal path for them is. This may include playing up an age-group, or re-aligning playing groups. Our goal is the same for every player – to ensure they reach their full potential on and off the field, and develop a life-long love for the game. Players can expect to compete in a minimum of 2-3 tournaments in the fall season, depending on whether their teams are placed into league play.

We hope to open registration for the fall season next week, and to finalize fall schedules for our teams soon after. Information on that registration process will be communicated soon. If your players are interested in joining the AFC Mobile Academy, please fill out the interest form at
